Chicago’s Best Kept Secret Since 1921

The Prohibition was a dark time in Chicago, but that didn’t stop two brothers from continuing a great tradition of brewing their own craft beer. John & Dickie Mickson established their brewery underground producing the finest ale of the century. The Micksons produced in small numbers, supplying only the most exclusive and ritzy speakeasies in Chicago. Old Chicago was enjoyed by only a select few. And has been hailed a favorite by even Al Capone and Frank Sinatra themselves.
For decades Old Chicago was so limited that it was thought to only have been a historical myth. Now over 90 years later, this grand product has emerged from the underground cellars of the Mickson Brothers to be enjoyed by all.Other brands hide their dark history. We celebrate ours. And now you can too with the best that Chicago has to offer. Notoriously good. Notoriously Old Chicago.

I’ve always wondered why Starbucks never had a dedicated iPad app. Whenever I’m at Starbucks, there are so many people using their iPads. Their iPhone app does a great job providing a great experience. So I thought it would be fun to design a concept for a Starbucks iPad app, with some social features, menus, and card organization. This is still a work in progress.

Brushfire Perceptions is a creative firm located in LA. The idea of a brushfire, something that is spontaneous and uncontrollable, is something BfP strived to mimic in their creative process and results. To capture that, a strong visual identity was needed.

Brushfire.
An entity that is defined by its unpredictable and spontaneous nature.
How do you capture and contain this brushfire into a visual identity for a creative that strives to mimic its power and potential?
How do you capture a brushfire that will show the birth of a free spirited flame that will grow to spread with no boundaries?
Or a paintbrush that is about to transform a blank canvas into a masterpiece?
